Lombardia Cutting Board - Diameter 39.5 cm - Handcrafted in Italy - Cherry Wood
This simple cherry wood cutting board, which also doubles as a cheese board, is reminiscent of the earliest cutting boards, which were fashioned from cutting a 'round' from a softwood tree stump for cutting on and, in fact, eating off.
Today a good cutting board of naturally sanitary wood, like cherry, is an essential piece of a well equipped kitchen; in fact most households find a use for more than one. Cherry wood has been used for making furniture since time immemorial, owing to its, warm, beautiful tones, which gives it a natural elegance.
Such a much used part of the kitchen toolbox should be looked after to ensure its posterity - never soak it in water or expose to extreme temperatures, just a gruff scrub of the wood with a brillo pad, with an occasional sanitisation with lemon, salt or vinegar - never bleach, and an occasional buff with oil to prevent drying and cracking of the wood.
