Lutezia Ladle - 30 cm Length - Handcrafted in Italy - Pewter & Stainless Steel
The Lutezia Ladle is the perfect utensil for serving hearty soups, stews and chowders, and for ladling gravies and other sauces and dressings. A versatile spoon, it can be used for basting meat – to moisten a roasting joint with melted fat and butter – as well as serving beverages such as hot toddy and punch.
The Lutezia Ladle is hand-made by Italian craftsmen, using both pewter and stainless steel produced in Brescia, Lombardy; fused to produce a strong and ergonomic design.
The Lutezia range of flatware and serving ware is inspired by ancient Rome, in fact Lutezia is the Roman name for Paris. The pewter handles take the form of double or bow-shaped balusters, a design that features prominently in Roman silverware, such as handmirrors, spoons, forceps and other utensils from the 2nd Century BC, as well as within architecture, where marble columns and bas-reliefs were carved as balusters. There are further Roman touches to the handles, including the anthemia or palmette-styled decorated terminals or handle tips, as well as fluted frieze-style decorated handle necks; both very popular styles in Roman art and architecture. The classic style of the cutlery, with its exquisite and elegant design, adds sophistication to any table setting, formal or informal.
The pewter handles of Lutezia cutlery are made using a special technique: the molten pewter is directly cast onto the steel tips of the cutlery; this process forms what is really a single element in which the "hardness" of the steel discreetly dissolves into the "soft" surface of the pewter handle, more suitable for contact with the hands.
The Lutezia Ladle complements the Cosi Tabellini range of sauce and gravy boats, tureens and serving bowls.
