Todi Oil Cruet (Pewter stopper) - 23 cm Height - Handcrafted in Italy - Pewter & Glass
Handcrafted by Italian craftsmen within a family-run company near Lake Garda, this elegantly simple Italian pewter and glass oil cruet is perfect for both fine and formal dining, whilst keeping a warmth and modesty for everyday use, due to the gentle patina of the hand-finished pewter.
Originally cruets were thought to have been used for holding liquids for ecclesiastical uses, for example holy water and wine for communion, but by the seventeenth century cruets were used for culinary uses, especially in France and Italy, where oils and vinegars have long been a key part of cooking and dining.
The glass jar has an easy to use spout, and the elegant glass handle makes passing the extra virgin olive oil or fine aged balsamic vinegar around the dining table a pleasure, whilst the stunning pewter stopper maintains freshness, when not in use. This centrepiece can be complemented by other pieces within the Todi range.
