Daniela Dinner Fork Set (Set of 6) - 21.5 cm Length - Handcrafted in Italy - Pewter & Stainless Steel
The dinner fork is used to eat main courses for both informal and formal meals; its larger size balances the array of tableware on a fully-appointed formal table particularly well.

The fork has a recent history in Britain, and there was a great reluctance by our ancestors to use them, as people generally ate with their fingers, including Queen Anne, as late as the 17th Century. Thomas Coryat pioneered the use of forks in Britain in the early 1600s following his long walking tours around Europe, where he noted that the Italians, who had been using forks since the 11th Century in Venice, ‘cannot by any means indure to have [their] dish touched with fingers, seeing all men’s fingers are not alike cleane’. However, it was still many decades before there was a general acceptance to use forks instead of fingers. It wasn’t until the reign of Charles II that a distinction between dinner and dessert forks developed, and until the second half of the 18th Century before the now-commonplace four-tined forks appeared.
Hand-made by Italian craftsmen, using both pewter and stainless steel produced in Brescia, Lombardy, the dinner fork is fused to combine strength and an ergonomic design. Sold as six, the strong dinner fork is stunning to hold and behold, and complements a full range of flatware available in Cosi Tabellini's popular Daniela range.
The Daniela range of flatware and serving ware is a simple, but stylish, design with a feminine and gently graceful contour to the handles with pretty serrated details, giving the cutlery a contemporary feel. The soft, warm hues of the pewter, combined with the simplicity in design, adds sophistication to any table setting, formal or informal.
The pewter handles of Daniela cutlery are made using a special technique: the molten pewter is directly cast onto the steel tips of the cutlery; this process forms what is really a single element in which the "hardness" of the steel discreetly dissolves into the "soft" surface of the pewter handle, more suitable for contact with the hands.
