Palermo Oil Cruet - 18.5 cm Height - Handcrafted in Italy - Pewter & Crystal Glass
This elegantly simple Italian pewter and crystal glass cruet looks as if it is from the time of fine and formal dining, whilst keeping a warmth and modesty for everyday use, due to the gentle patina of the hand-finished pewter.
Originally cruets were thought to have been used for holding liquids for ecclesiastical uses, for example holy water and wine for communion, but by the seventeenth century cruets were used for culinary uses, especially in France and Italy, where oils and vinegars have long been a key part of cooking and dining.
The glass jar has an easy to use spout, and the elegant pewter handle makes passing the extra virgin olive oil or fine aged balsamic vinegar around the dining table a pleasure.
