This elegantly simple Italian pewter and crystal glass cruet is modest enough for everyday use, due to the gentle patina of the hand-finished pewter, whilst looking as if it has been inspired from the time of fine and formal dining.
Originally cruets were thought to have been used for holding liquids for ecclesiastical uses, for example holy water and wine for communion, but by the seventeenth century cruets were used for culinary uses, especially in France and Italy, where oils and vinegars have long been a key part of cooking and dining.
