Samovar Teapot - 1.9 L - Handcrafted in Italy - Pewter
This classic pewter teapot, handcrafted by Italian pewterers, is reverently named after the 'Samovar', which is a metal container traditionally used to boil water in Russia, especially, but also it was widely used in other Central and Eastern European countries as well as in the Middle East and Kashmir.
The Samovar was an important part of the Russian kitchen and was used to make and drink tea over a long period of time in a communal setting; in fact, there is a Russian expression - "to have a sit by the samovar" - which means to have a long chat while drinking tea.
One cannot boil water within the vessel itself, due to pewter's low melting point, however, the warm curves of the generous pot and iconic spout coupled with the ornate and practical space-saving folding handle, which is inlaid with cherry, for a warm wooden grip when carrying and pouring, means that this vessel can be a special part of one's tea-making and drinking routine, and encourages us all to take a little 'samovar' time with family and friends.
