Botticino Liqueur Glass (Set of 2) - 6.5 cl - Handcrafted in Italy - Pewter & Glass

These pewter stemmed liqueur glasses lend a touch of elegance when presenting and serving liqueurs after dinner, at a party, reception or other gathering, and are the perfect way to serve an array of apéritifs and digestifs.

Liqueurs are also very popular in cooking, so when pouring Amaretto over ice cream, blending Crème de Cassis with a chocolate dessert, or Frangelico to a cheesecake, why not treat yourself to a small glass of your favourite liqueur at the same time.

The small-bowled glass, with its thickish pewter stem, holds 6.5cl, a small amount, but with liqueurs generally having a relatively high alcohol content, the small glass is perfect for a small serving. The shape of the glass is designed to direct the liqueur to the back of the mouth so the sweetness doesn’t overwhelm.

The general rule with liqueurs is the sweeter the liqueur, the colder it should be served to balance the sweetness. The elegant pewter stem of the Botticino liqueur glass allows the drinker to holder the glass there without affecting the temperature of the glass as pewter isn't a good conductor of heat, ensuring the liqueur stays cool, when it tastes its best.

Liqueur glasses are also known as cordial glasses; cordials were potent, concentrated tipples, the same as liqueurs, served after tea in the 18th Century.  For those interested in etymology, the word cordial derives from the Latin ‘cordis’ meaning ‘heart’, and by the 14th Century this evolved into meaning a food or drink that stimulates the heart, or something that is invigorating.  The word liqueur derives from the Latin word ‘liquifacere’, which means to liquefy, or to dissolve; monks from the Middle Ages onwards have been producing mixes of spirits with herbs, plants, roots and leaves to create medicines, ‘elixirs of life’ - the forerunners to modern liqueurs.

These pewter stemmed liqueur glasses are complemented by many others within the Cosi Tabellini Botticino glassware range, each handcrafted by Italian pewterers; all high quality glass, with solid tactile pewter stems and bases, to enhance your drinking experience.
