Archimède Hourglass - 16.5 cm Height - Handcrafted in Italy - Pewter & Glass
This iconic hourglass, generous in proportions and crafted from pure pewter, is featured in the Italian film comedy It Can't Be All Our Fault. Such a measuring instrument is reminiscent of the classic timepiece that has been a key instrument over the centuries.
Throughout history, scientists, physicists, alchemists, engineers and mathematicians (Archimedes was all of these!), have all used the hourglass to make sense of the world, in terms of both conventional and abstract time and space.
This can still be relevant in these modern, and increasingly rushed times; the iconic form and underlying symbolism of the hourglass makes it a special addition to any study, music room or kitchen, with a running time of 10 minutes.
This large hourglass is the big brother to a smaller version in the same style which featured in the film The Man With the Iron Mask.
