Medieval Measuring Beaker - 15 cm - 50 cl - Handcrafted in Italy - Pewter

- +

The second largest in a set of five, handcrafted from Italian pewter, this pretty measuring beaker is the perfect addition to a busy kitchen.

Our family of beakers, are cast from original antiques with a interesting back-story. These were historically used by shopkeepers to measure flour, sugar or oil etc. Periodically a weights and measures inspector would visit to ensure the shopkeeper wasn’t cheating by using beakers with false bottoms to 'short-change' the customers. If the beaker passed inspection, it was stamped to prove it was a true measure.

These pretty and practical vessels could also be used to serve drinks, display flowers, or hold pens, pencils or even make-up brushes...
